THE TRELLIS STORY
Meet the Zaskes. Jake and Sarah are pastors at Hope Chapel, a multi-site, multi-ethnic, multi-generational church across the Kansas City Metro.
Trellis was started out of the desperate need they saw for revival in the Church, and the desire to strengthen the future of the local church. It seemed to them that there were more pastors leaving ministry than entering into it. They saw churches dying faster than they're starting. And in all of this, they were burdened by what seemed to be a lack of a ministry pipeline.
Yet, this whole time they remained confident that God is still at work. He is still calling people into full-time ministry, He's still using local churches to bring the good news of Jesus to their communities, and He's still working in the hearts of individuals who want to do their part to spread the gospel. What was needed was a pathway to intersect all those things.
With Jake and Sarah’s 20+ years in church planting and leadership, they felt God's call on his heart to begin building that pathway. Through the support and expertise of an Advisory Board, Trellis was created to be a holistic pathway into full-time local church ministry. The Trellis Training Program, which launched its pilot year in the fall of 2021, is an internship and residency program that is raising up the next generation of church leaders through education, on-site training, and funding. Through local church and university partners, Trellis can offer someone discerning the call into full-time ministry a comprehensive training experience that will build them up and send them out.
